Meghalt a világ legcsúnyább kutyája
Miss Ellie, a kis bogárszemű kínai meztelen kutya tavaly lett a világ legcsúnyább kutyája az Animal Planet versenyén. A rücskös bőrű, hatalmas nyelvű kutya 17 évesen halt meg, miután nagy karriert futott be a show businessben.
Miss Ellie valóságos médiasztárnak számított Amerikában. Több műsorban is szerepelt a Comedy Barn színházban, Pigeon Forge-ban, Tennessee államban. Ezen kívül részt vett az Animal Planet csatorna „101 Kutya˝ című műsorában, számos hirdetőtáblán és egy reklámban is. Pigeon Forge polgármestere, Keith Whaley november 12-ét „Miss Ellie Napnak˝ nyilvánította, gazdája erőfeszítéseinek adózva, aki pénzt gyűjtött a helyi állatvédő ligának.
Jótékony célokért kampányolt
Az évek alatt a vak Miss Ellie segítségével több mint 100 000 dollárt gyűjtöttek a Sevier megyei állatvédő ligának.

Tavaly júniusban az észak-kaliforniai Sonoma-Marin mezőgazdasági vásáron megrendezett legcsúnyább kutyák versenyén a fajtatiszta kutyák kategóriájan Miss Ellie győzött, de összetettben alulmaradt egy menhelyről megmentett boxer-keverékkel szemben.
Gazdája tovább harcol
Dawn Goehring akkor találkozott először Miss Ellie-vel, amikor az 7 éves volt. Miss Ellie-t egy menhelyről mentették meg és így került Goehring-hez, aki egyébként kutyakiképzéssel foglalkozik. A következő 10 évben a páros együtt járta az országot, csodálkozást és elismerést keltve az emberekben, pénzt gyűjtve az állatok megmentésére.
Egy nyilatkozatban, amit Miss Ellie elhunyását követően adtak ki, gazdája ezt mondta: „Miss Ellie sok ember szívét megérintette és köszönetet mondunk mindenkinek, aki segítette küzdelmében. Jóllehet mélyen lesújtott Miss Ellie halála, nem fogjuk abbahagyni a kutyákért folytatott küzdelmet.˝
